My weekend
I had quite the adventure this weekend, in the end I got to see a lot more of the diocese, which is quite lovely.
On Friday I attempted to attend a dinner with some fellow seminarians but was not able to make it because there was a bridge outing. I had two possible routes to get to the dinner, clearly, I chose the wrong one. This led to a nice 2+ hour car ride, at least it was a beautiful day out, and I could listen to the Cards game….which wasn’t so good itself.
Fortunately, after this blunder, I returned to my apartment where I watched one of my favorite movies, The Godfather II, with my roommate who had never seen the movie.
Saturday I just relaxed and met up with friends, nothing terribly exciting.
Sunday I was relaxing after Mass when I got a call inviting me to go to a parish picnic in Frankenstein, Mo. Yes there really is a Frankenstein, Mo. for all you out-of-state folks.
I was able to make it to the picnic no problem. However, there was quite the crowd at this picnic (not a bad problem to have) and alas they ran out of food just before I got to eat.
All I could do was laugh at that point, at least I made it to that one. Maybe next time I’ll get some food. I was 0-2 for the weekend, but fortunately I have plenty of time to improve that average.
In the end this weekend was truly and adventure, but what I realize is that despite the mishaps, it was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed meeting parishioners at the picnic or just driving around the diocese.
