Traveling

I’ll be traveling over the next couple of weeks, I will have some down time, during which I will certainly be posting, however I will also have some time when I am completely “off the grid.” I’ll be away from my computer and cell phone. During the next couple of days I will try to write some posts when I am not packing and schedule them to be published while I’m gone.

Yo Quiero Taco Bell

Apparently the dog who starred in many Taco Bell Commercials with his key phrase being “Yo Quiero Taco Bell.” There has actually been quite a bit of coverage for the death of a dog.

One of the funnier pieces I’ve seen comes from Conan O’Brien:

That wedding video…update

A little over 24 hours ago I wrote a post containing a YouTube video of a couple starting off their wedding by having the entire wedding party dance down the aisle. At the time I remarked that I had seen the video posted on Facebook, Twitter and many blogs. When I wrote that first post the video had approximately 700,000 views. When I checked tonight:

That’s almost 3 million in one day. The viral nature of the Internet just continues to amaze me. I wouldn’t be surprised if that video gets another 3 million in the next 24 hours. Word spread so fast about this video and the number of views just skyrocketed.

If you missed the video the first time, here it is again:

Kevin Skinner’s performance

I don’t watch the show America’s Got Talent. A few weeks ago I saw this video posted by Deacon Greg Kandra over on the Deacon’s Bench.

At the time I thought it was pretty cool and thought about posting it on the blog. However, I noticed it didn’t seem to be getting that much buzz. However, I did notice today that it was one of the more popular clips on Hulu.

I may be biased, and enjoy it even more because I like country music, but this clip is awesome.I think its more than the fact its country music.

When this guy walked out on the stage, the judges laughed at him, yet clearly he has a gift. Sometimes we may be mislead by outward appearances or actions, but with all have a unique set of gifts and talents.

While it certainly isn’t a Catholic wedding, and isn’t my personal taste, I can’t count the number of times I have seen this video posted on facebook, twitter and various blogs today. It sure is one way to start off a wedding…

My most recent and last project for Religion Newswriters Association this summer is:

www.ReligionHeadlines.org

I cannot take much credit, its a blog aggregator that has existed for quite sometime and was recently redesigned by someone else. I simply helped in locating and evaluating various blogs for the site. Currently I work on adding more blogs to the site.

Check it out, and by all means, if you know of some other sites that you think would be good for the site, let me know.

How do you describe twitter?

Here is a video of actor Kevin Spacey explaining twitter to Letterman. He does a decent job of explaining it quickly. I usually struggle when people ask me “what’s twitter?” because there is a lot to talk about when it comes to twitter and I don’t always know where to start.

How do you describe twitter, especially when  someone who doesn’t tweet asks “What’s twitter?”

Royals vs. Ray July 18, 2009

Here are some photos from the Royals vs. Rays game on July 18, 2008. The trip to Kauffman Stadium was the 11th Major League Baseball stadium I have visited. My seat was pretty high up, but I took a 75-300mm telephoto lens and was able to get some ok shots, take a look.

Also, this was the first time I used flickr, for whatever reason the captions don’t appear in this video, but if you click on the photos, you will be able to find them, I’ll have that problem resolved the next time around.

Ballparks poll

My last post got me thinking, how many Major League stadiums has the average fan visited? I’ve been to 11, how about you?

Ballparks

As much as I love the Cardinals, I also love baseball. I really appreciate the game and its rich history. One of the ways that I like to live out this appreciation is through visiting different ballparks.

This past weekend I went to Kansas City for that specific reason. I had never gone to a game at Kauffman Stadium, affectionately known as “the K” The trip brought my total number of stadiums to 11, not a ton, but definitely more than some.

Here’s the list:

Busch II

Busch III

Wrigley Field

Fenway Park

“Old” Yankee Stadium

Shea Stadium

Veterans Stadium “the Vet”

Citizens Bank Ballpark (replaced the Vet in Philly)

Camden Yards

Nationals Stadium

Kauffman Stadium

The next ones that I’d like to visit are in Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, mainly just because they are on the way as I drive back and forth from New Jersey and Missouri.
